Edward’s Boys would like to thank everyone who has been in touch to offer their support since last Friday when we announced that we were going to cancel the production of The Silent Woman.
The disappointment has been easier to bear on account of the universal kindness and thoughtfulness expressed by so many. Several of you invited us to “count purchased tickets as donations to help defray costs”. We are grateful for this generous gesture, but are unable to accept since our online ticket service refunds all money as a matter of course.
One of the most difficult aspects of the whole situation has been the truly terrible timing. It became clear with only seven days to go that it was going to be difficult, if not impossible, to perform the show at all. Final production week is always very exciting and enjoyable, but it is also exhausting, requires great sacrifices and complete focus. That is perfectly possible when the rewards include seven performances to large, appreciative audiences and a tour to extraordinary places. It is much, much more difficult in other circumstances, and a film of the result would not be a true reflection of the work that had gone into the preparations.
However, we are looking into other ways of preserving a record of ‘The One That Got Away’. We shall publish further details in due course.
Onwards and upwards!
